Veteran’s Day Tribute

School of Theatre and Dance alum, Alex Chevier returned to ECU this fall to work with students of The School of Theatre and Dance on a creative and meaningful project.

Chevier worked with ECU students to create original choreography for VetStories, a community engagement project that focuses on sharing the stories of American veterans on-stage. Chevier, BFA 2018, said, “The production is made up of a collaborative effort of local artists making art for the veteran community”. VetStories, which will take place in Goldsboro, North Carolina, uses both the visual and performing arts to honor local veterans for Veterans Day.

Chevier’s piece entitled “726”, tells the story of WWII Veteran Isaac Pope and his experiences with war and racism. A group of ECU School of Theatre and Dance students will be performing in this tribute to Pope, who recently passed away at the age of 100.

VetStories is produced by the Arts Council of Wayne County and is scheduled for November 9-10, 2018 at Wayne Community College. Tickets are $10 for the general public and free for veterans with ID.
