Photosynthesis Activity

Created by Victoria Workman

Chlorophyll is the pigment that makes leaves green. It is also the part of the leaf that preforms photosynthesis. This activity allows you to use chlorophyll to color your leaf green while also showing what happens to oxygen and carbon dioxide in the chlorophyll during photosynthesis.

Instructions

  1. Paint your leaf green with chlorophyll! You can do this by collecting leaves or green plants outside, crumbling them up, and smearing them across the paper. The chlorophyll will stay on the paper and make your leaf green. Download Leaf Drawing Here.
  2. Show what happens during photosynthesis! Cut along the dotted lines and insert the slide tab into the chlorophyll. Pull the slide tab in the direction of the arrows to see the process of photosynthesis. Download Slide Tab Here.
