In addition to working as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Theatre Education and Theatre for New Audiences, Amanda is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Arts in Education at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. While pursuing her Ph.D., she taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses in arts education as well as supervised pre-service arts teachers at schools across the Twin Cities. Her graduate research has focused on anti-oppressive, artistically rigorous theater pedagogy and on teacher demoralization. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., Amanda worked at schools in Los Angeles and Chicago for ten years as an instructional coach and teacher of Drama, Humanities, and Media Studies. While teaching, she founded two high school theater programs, producing and directing five shows at schools with no previous theater programming. She has also worked as a program manager for Young Storytellers in Los Angeles and has overseen and taught summer programs focused on innovative learning, theater, and social activism. She holds an MA in Educational Theatre from New York University and a BS in Television and Film from Boston University.
