Jessica Doyle-Mekkes is the Program Coordinator for the Musical Theatre Concentration where she has taught Applied Voice and Intro to Musical Theatre Voice since 2017.  An internationally published writer and sought-after clinician, Jessica uniquely combines brain science, voice science, and artistry to help both singers and public speakers harness the power of their voices.

A longtime member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Jessica’s students regularly place in the top 3 at the NC NATS Musical Theatre Auditions, and progress to the regional and national levels.  Jessica is regularly a masterclass clinician at NATS auditions and most recently presented original research in her workshop, Overworked and underperforming: How lack of sleep negatively impacts our students’ academic, mental, and vocal well-being and what we can do about it at the Mid-Atlantic Regional NATS Conference.

Touted as being “magnetic and instantly likeable” (mlive.com) Jessica is equally at home on the classical and musical theatre stages.  Favorite roles include: The Sound of Music (Maria)..South Pacific (Nellie)..Caroline or Change (Rose). Puccini’s Suor Angelica (La Principessa) and most recently her post-Covid return to the stage in Mamma Mia (Rosie) for ECU’s Loessin Playhouse Summer Theatre.  Jessica is a proud member of Actor’s Equity.

Jessica holds an MM in Opera Performance and a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance, both from Central Michigan University.  She is a Level III Certified Teacher of Somatic Voicework™ and has extensively studied both Speech Level Singing and Sheri Sanders’ Rock the Audition training.  Literary Rep: Sarah Jane Freymann Lit, NYC.
