Michael Shoaf is an Assistant Professor teaching Lighting and Sound Design for The School of Theatre and Dance. He earned his MFA at the University of Urbana Champaign and got his BFA from East Carolina University. Michael is very proud to be teaching and supporting ECU’s School of Theatre and Dance as he has always admired the quality of work that is produced. Michael has experience working at Steppenwolf Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre, and more. Michael has a major passion for lighting that even extends outside of the theatre and dance world. This passion spreads into a world of Christmas Lights with his holiday light display with over 125,000 lights, which has appeared in several news channel broadcasts, newspapers, and even on ABC’s “The Great Light Fight” hit TV show. Michael puts his heart and soul into everything he does and drives that determination and dedication into every student that crosses his path. He is always excited to start every semester as a new chapter in his book.
